Avatar gallery

The first part of a Firefox avatar collection. Currently just 47 avatars for use on forums, of which 6 are animated. There are also 29 smaller versions for use with AIM and 22 larger versions for use with Yahoo or MSN. Check back later for more updates. Also, if you like these avatars, also check out my Firefox wallpapers.

Forum Avatars

AOL Instant Messenger Avatars

MSN / Yahoo Avatars

Download them all in a zip archive

Note: If you want to use these avatars, don’t simply let the forum software fetch them from my website. I’m just using a simple ADSL line to host these, so it isn’t able to handle that much requests and bandwidth. Place these avatars on your own web space or upload them to the forum software.

I don’t know what the exact size is for avatars used by MSN Messenger… I’ve put one of your pics in my GAIM. It would be great if you create some more larger pics that fit MSN Messenger (and other IM softwares) avatars.

Very nice! Excellent work. Some AIM (50×50) and MSN (96×96, borderless) icons would be great. :-)

Hey, great work on these avatars. I’m placing some on my site on my Firefox awareness page. I’m also giving you credit with a link to your site. (Unfortunately that will only generate about 3 traffic hits hehe). Again, great job and thanks for being there in the Firefox communtiy.

One huge problem – the URL for GetFirefox.com isn’t on there.

  19. AnimeUSA wrote on December 2nd, 2004 at 1:29 am

The URL to download Firefox needs to be on these buttons. If people have never heard of Firefox before, they need to know where to go to get it! :)

I came here to download a Firefox avator to use as my avatar on the messageboards I frequent. I am a computer dummie and do not know how to do this. There were no instructions for donwloading. Also, after the avatar is downloaded, how do you get it to the messageboards? I told you that I am a computer dummie!! I want to support Firefox and this is a good way. Unfortunately I don’t know how to do this.

I am using Mozilla FireFox and I just love your avatars! They really help me to spread the word to all my friends, and I just like to show off that I am using Mozilla FireFox. Just a suggestion, but maybe you should put up some avatars about mozilla Thunderbird! Just a suggestion though! Great job! Keep up your good work!

    Thnx for the great avatars!

  50. Haydur wrote on April 1st, 2006 at 6:23 am

Thanks for the avatars… although you are still are moron for not making your site IE compatible. A coder always support the widest audience group possible. You are missing out on 80% of the web users.

    Grow up jackass.

  51. rakaz wrote on April 6th, 2006 at 10:03 am

Haydur: I created this website with a specific look in mind. That look required that I used certain standards that IE did not support. Standards that every other browser out there supports and have supported for a long time.

There were three options: I could have dumbed down my look to make it compatible with Internet Explorer, which would I absolutely refuse to do. Alternatively I could have created a dumbed down version and serve that IE users only and I could simply let IE users see the mess their browser makes of this website.

I chose the last option. Simply because rather spend my time on fun things that to spend it on degrading my design.

My website is standards compliant. If you want to visit my website with IE then complain to Microsoft for not making their browser compliant. It’s not like I am doing something extremely edgy. All I am doing is using standards that have been defined years ago and which every other browser does support. It is Microsofts choice of not supporting these standards. Complain to them.

Fortunately Microsoft is listening and the upcoming Internet Explorer 7 is much more compliant and even renders this website almost without any flaws. Which is why I removed the red ‘get a better browser’ bar for users of Internet Explorer 7.

Nice icons you made! FF is awesome, spread the word!

  53. airtonix wrote on April 26th, 2006 at 7:47 am

wait up….its actually not that hard to get this site showing up the same way in IE…..regardless of version.

Rakaz, just a tip but i recommend you exploere the use of the star html calss assignment, it allows you to create css styles for IE only….

If you want to specify a style for say Konquorer or Safari(both use KHTML engine) then you should visit quirksmode.org or do a search on wikipedia for ‘css hacks’.

and You are quite right to point out that IE7 will have improvements….although i wouldn’t say that IE is w3c compliant….still along way to go for that..besides i use Ubuntu instead of Windows because i care about the security of my computers….so why would i use a security ridden hellhole like IE anyway….oh thats right I have to code for consumerist portion of this planet. sigh

ps( you may want to apply a display:block;clear:both; to each of your formField and formLabels in the comment form here, they’re a bit guffed up.)

Don’t let the naysayers & criticizers get ya down!

You’re helping people spread the words about fx and that’s a good thing – if they don’t wanna use your avatars, they don’t have to!

  57. Daemen wrote on December 1st, 2006 at 2:56 pm

I have to wonder though how hard it would be to create this design in MSIE <7, without dumbing it in any way… (not really I think, honestly)

  58. rakaz wrote on December 4th, 2006 at 4:25 am

Daemen: The site has gone been redesigned and is now completely compatible with IE 6 and above. The previous design was simply not possible to do properly in IE 6.

Just a quick note- one easy way to use these images without either hotlinking or downloading would be to use, say, ImageShack. Just load it on there and use that link instead. That’s what I did.
