Firefox wallpapers

Monday, 18 October 2004

The spreadfirefox website recently posted the original vector image of the Firefox logo. I’ve downloaded it and decided to play around a bit. The result is two wallpapers, one in two variants. I have some more ideas, so if you like these, check back in a couple of days…

Update #1: I just came up with another one, called Strings…
Update #2: Strings is now also available in a lighter variant…
Update #3: Now introducing… Sketch
Update #4: They just keep coming… Hot
Update #5: Added 1280 x 960 and 1600 x 1200 versions of Navy and Ice. I also added red version of Navy, simply called Red
Update #6: The ninth wallpaper… Black

Click = close? Lose. I open it, right click (this works) click set as wallpaper, the window pops up, and then the big window closes, so i never get it as teh wallpaper.

Using them in a Coffee House in Holland on 2 public GNU/Linux machine, estimated count of new firefox adorers ~150 :-)
At the moment it shows the navy dark on 2 machines all day long, except when there used….-> firefox @ work :)

Sweet wallpapers… (un)fortunately I use dual monitors so the only one I could extend *nicely* over them both is the silver one… would be sweet if you could up a couple (i.e. the new orange one) with dual monitor size (2560×1280) with the firefox part on the right half of it :)

One Word: Great!
I’ve two Screens and I’m using now the 2560×1280 Version of the "Hot"-Wallpaper. Could you create Dual-Screen-Versions of the other Wallpapers too? A Dark-one would be great, for example "Black", "Strings (dark)" or "Navy".

Oh my God! These wallpapers are just dope :) Your the best man, these should be endorsed by the boys over at Mozilla.org because I don’t believe that there are any other wallpapers out there that do the Gr8 Fox as much justice as yours do. nice, but it is missing a reverse resolution version.
it’d be enough to have 1600 x 1200, so the user can resize it himself, but it’s impossible to make a 1200 x 1600 version out of this at home. plz put the reverse resolution version up for download. TIA.

Hey… these are great… really well done. My only wish is you’d do some widescreen ones too… my laptop is WSXGA+ which is 1680×1050 and all the stretch modes make the logo look weird.

carlooos: They are made in Photoshop. If there is any interest I’ll create a little tutorial for one of the existing wallpapers. Or perhaps I’ll create an entirely new one just for this purpose.

How about removing the little firefox icons in the top right from Strings and Sketch? They kind of disrupt the overall cool backgrounds. Then I would use them ;)

Love all the wallpapers, my friend. Great work! I was wondering if you could possibly whip up a blue version of the "Black" wallpaper so it will go with the default WinXP theme? The Navy light and Strings Light versions go very well, and I love the simplicity of the black one. I just think a blue one would look even better :)

One thing though.
My laptop has a 1280×800 screen resolution, and I was wondering if you could make some wallpapers that fit that size. If you can, Thanks! If not, I’ll understand. For now, I’ll keep the 1152×864 on Stretch. Once again, congrats on the wonderful artwork!

Hi rakaz,
I really like your firefox wallpapers. But i have some advice for you, if you don’t mind,otherwise ignore it. Can u make some wallpapers so that the writings “Firefox” and “rediscover the web” more visible. Moreover if the arc-type portion that hides the logo is removed, then your wallpapers will be more attractive.
So that we can the logo and the writings fully and clearly.
I hope u didnt mind having that advice.
