Hi Dan,

Thanks for your comment. I am afraid though you are mistaken. A license is not a contract. A license is a separate legal concept that is defined in copyright law, not contract law. Sure, you can combine a license and a contract - which is done quite often for copyright licenses. But the GPL is a just a license. And still it can be enforced quite easily. If you don't abide the terms, the license becomes void and you loose all the right that the license gave you. Any violation of the license can be enforced as a plain copyright violation.

And this is not just my opinion... I can tell you this lawsuit went nowhere, it was thrown out of court because it was defective. There simply was nothing the judge could rule on. The judge even gave him the opportunity to fix his complaint but he refused...

A license is a form of a contract. Otherwise, it could not be enforced and would have no importance.

Daniel has a point, regardless of whether or not you agree with him or whether he wins.

I'm not saying he's right, but he certainly has a point and a reasonable argument. Instead of insulting the man, you should try to be objective and rational and counter his arguments.

Daniel is clearly a person of principles. Whether or not you agree with his position, does not change the fact that he is doing what he believes is right. Unfortunately, our court systems are so corrupt that principles actually work against people.

It would be nice if people stopped making personal attacks on anyone with a different opinion and instead had a well-intentioned conversation to address the difference of opinion. I.e., if everyone would just remember the lessons they learned from Sesame Street.
