Feed icons

Finally we have an universal recognisable icon that is not connected to a single specification. Get your feed icons at feedicons.com.

20060309-feedsI guess it is already ancient news to most, but I thought I would mention it anyway. Microsoft decided to use the Firefox feed icon in the upcoming version of Internet Explorer and Office. The good news is that they are not alone and others are starting to adopt the icon too, for example FeedDemon. The last couple of weeks I started to notice that more and more website replaced their ancient orange RSS icons with the new icon. This means we may finally have an universal recognisable icon that is not connected to a single specification. Get your feed icons at feedicons.com.

Supposedly at the big meeting between the big player browser makers (Mozilla, Microsoft and Opera) it was decided that all would use the same icon to avoid confusion. I don’t doubt at all that it will fast become the standard…

Just a side-note: I hate Firefox themes that replace this feed icon…using an unknown icon makes it hard to recognize.
